Archway Health Selected by Lancaster Cancer Center to Navigate CMS Oncology Care Model

Comprehensive Solution to Provide Strategy, Design, and Ongoing Management of Oncology Bundled Payment Initiative

Watertown, MA, October 17, 2016 – Lancaster Cancer Center, a leading regional provider of comprehensive hematology and oncology programs, announced that they have partnered with Archway Health to manage the organization’s participation in the Oncology Care Model (OCM) program, a bundled payment program. The OCM program, launched by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on July 1, 2016, is a voluntary payment model that provides an incentive for oncology practices to increase care coordination, lower costs, and improve outcomes.

“Participating in the oncology bundled payment will help us focus on delivering high-quality, cost-effective and patient-centered care to our patients,” said Robert D. Orzechowski, Chief Operating Officer of Lancaster Cancer Center. “Our challenge was finding a partner who would help us navigate this landscape, while maintaining our personalized treatment plans and comprehensive, holistic approach to cancer care. We’re proud to have selected Archway as they are aligned in our mission and vision of providing the best care possible to each patient.”

The OCM program to date has 200 oncology providers and 17 health plans participating. Under OCM, physicians enter bundled payment contracts holding the provider accountable for all financial and performance outcomes associated with episodes of care where chemotherapy is administered to cancer patients.

Archway helps providers through each step of the process to implement and manage OCM with opportunity analysis, patient tracking tools, practice transformation and compliance. In addition to OCM, Archway supports CMS Bundled Payment for Care Improvement (BPCI), Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) and Episode Payment Model (EPM) programs, as well as with commercial payers who are pursuing bundled payment initiatives.

“For more than 30 years, Lancaster Cancer Center has delivered high-quality care providing the best available treatment for patients and their loved ones,” said David P. Terry, Archway Health Founder and CEO. “This partnership demonstrates their continued commitment to patients by adopting new payment models designed to improve care and reduce costs, and we are proud to work with them in this important mission.”

Lancaster Cancer Center, based in Lancaster, PA, is a cancer treatment center providing comprehensive hematology and oncology programs from initial diagnosis, to treatment, and follow-up care. Their team, including top-ranked physicians, provides care for patients suffering from both common and rare blood diseases, as well providing progressive and compassionate treatment for cancer and related tumors.
