Archway Health Selected by 18 Leading Cancer Facilities in 2016 to Manage Oncology Bundled Payment Model

Increased Adoption Represents Positive Movement in Value-Based Payments

Watertown, MA, February 2, 2017 – The Oncology Care Model (OCM), a voluntary CMS bundled payment program, has seen strong interest among providers; more than double the number of expected participants have joined. Archway Health, a firm specializing in implementing and managing bundled payment programs across all care settings, today announced that 10 oncology providers have engaged the firm to manage participation in the OCM model since the start of the program in July 2016; Archway gained an additional eight clients within oncology prior to the CMS program launch.

“The growth and participation among cancer facilities in OCM is a positive sign in the transition to value-based payment and specifically, bundled payments and the future of healthcare,” said Dave Terry, Co-Founder and CEO of Archway Health. “The organizations participating in the OCM model are demonstrating a commitment to innovating and improving the quality of care and lessening the financial burden for their patients. They are leading the way in delivering high-value healthcare.”

The facilities that have selected Archway Health include: Cancer & Hematology Centers of Western Michigan, the largest private oncology/hematology medical practice in Michigan; Lancaster General Cancer Institute, a Penn Medicine affiliate and a designated comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute; Cancer Specialists of North Florida, the largest cancer practice in Jacksonville; and Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, Oklahoma’s only certified member of MD Anderson Cancer Network.

The OCM program to date has more than 200 oncology providers and 17 health plans participating. Under OCM, physicians enter bundled payment contracts, holding the provider accountable for all financial and performance outcomes associated with episodes of care where chemotherapy is administered to cancer patients. Archway Health helps providers through each step of the process to implement and manage OCM with opportunity analysis, patient tracking tools, practice transformation and compliance.

“Our institution has always sought new ways to improve patient care, while reducing costs,” said Dennis Zoet, Senior Director of Business Development and Operations, Cancer & Hematology Centers of Western Michigan. “The OCM model allows us to do just that within our population of patients battling cancer. Given the breadth and depth of their experience within bundled payments, Archway Health is an ideal partner to help us navigate and succeed within this new landscape.”
